What To Blog About? – That Is The Question

I’ve been blogging for probably about the past 2 years but only recently have I started a personal blog and actually have stuck with it (for now at least). People that I talk to about blogging love the idea behind it but they always seem to come back to me with the same question:  What should I blog about?

In short, my answer is blog about what you love and keep it simple. As far as blog tone is concerned, try to keep a conversational tone because that’s exactly what you’re doing conversing with your readers. Don’t try to use “big” words just to impress your readers,  just write as if you were talking to a friend. Grammar is important but don’t lose sleep over it because people are forgiving when it comes to blogging and grammar. I suggest starting with a personal blog first and get a feel of the things you enjoy blogging about, then move on to a themed blog.

  • Agreed! Sometimes, I feel a bit guilty because I don't blog with the frequency that I think I should. Honestly though, I'm happier knowing that I actually care about the subject matters that I do post. Nothing seems more silly to me than those blogs that spew out torrents of regurgitated nonsense day after day, merely for the sake of being prolific.
  • I couldn't agree more. I know it's cliche but quality over quantity is always best for your readers. Still, it's no excuse for posting once a year. :-P
